Full description

The OPT Dropwire Sheath Splitter performs the longitudinal sheath splitting process to enable access to the internal cable components allowing end and mid-point cable access.

The Sheath Splitter is ergonomicaily designed to fit into the engineer’s hand whilst providing adequate grip to draw the splitter along the cable sheath.

The replaceable black anodised tool cassettes are inserted into two red plastic moulded holders and hinged to enable the tool to be wrapped around the cable before the splitting operation.

The spring loaded black ‘T’ shaped clip is attached to one of the plastic moulded cassette holders and keeps the tool closed during the sheath splitting operation.

The splitter is easily opened by simply depressing the long bar of the ‘T’ clip.

The two cassettes each contain a pair of profiled rollers and a cutting bladeto minimise resistance.

Both components are positioned in the cassette to ensure the blade cuts to the correct depth without damaging the internal components.

The blade itself exceeds the OPT specified criteria of 500 x 1m cuts.
